It was histroy in the making last week when professionals in the Tanzania Mobile and I.C.T sector met at the inagural Mobile Monday Dar-es-Salaam (a.k.a MoMoDar) meet up hosted by Commision for Science and Technology (COSTECH) at their headquaters. We were very happy about the the turn up of 70 people. We thank all those who attended and urge you to keep your eyes on the website for the next meetup which will also be our official launch in November.
The meeting started at 6:30pm with welcome remarks from Dr.Hassan Mshinda the Director General of COSTECH,
This was followed by a presentation on the “Mobile Monday Concept” by Anthony Kigombola
At about 7:10pm Dr.Raphael Mmasi, Director of Information and Documentation at COSTECH gave a presentation on “Trends of ICT development in Tanzania”
Developers were represented by Mr.Kiiza Mtungi Co-Founder of the Value Added Service start up Dar411Mobile who gave a presentation on “SEMA” , what he discribed as the gap between the people without internet or internet enabled phones and social networking platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
Last on the Agenda was an open discussion on the future of Mobile Monday in Dar-es-Salaam, many stake holders welcomed the idea saying
Mobile Monday is a tool that is going to bring together the local Mobile community to embark on strategies that benefit the country in this competitive era where a Mobile is a Key to Peoples lives.
